When my son and I opened up his 70 350HP 440 it had a set of very thin head gaskets on it. There didnt seem to be any problems at all with them when we opened it. They were stock for sure, but are they still avaiable and good? I know that they will help to raise the compression and the newer thicker ones will ower it.
I am sure that he is going to use the 440 source heads too. I have read here that some of you guys dont like them and that their head gaskets NEEDED to be used with them. But thats what he wants. Not for racing, but everyone knows that it will be pushed at times.

Thanks
Jeff

I would use FelPro head gaskets myself. What say anyone else?

The thin gaskets are good for about .5 increase in compression in a big block. Unfortunately, Mopar Performance has discontinued them. You can only use them with iron blocks and iron heads, though. With aluminum heads you're better off using what the manufacturer suggests. the bad part is that with the Eddy and Stealth heads when you use the proper gaskets, you end up the same as the iron heads compression-wise.

Well thats not so bad..just so he doesnt loose any compression in the change. He will be happy to hear that.
