Think I broke something in the trany in my 84 Rampage

I was driving it yesterday and I went to turn into a place and down shifted and it it seemed it was trying to lock up as I was letting the clutch back out, but seemed to go once it was fully engaged...But as soon as I put the clutch in again it started it again...I did get it to go again and it seemed to be ok with the clutch out but that lasted for about 2 blocks when it just seemed to lock up.. It will roll with it in neutral so my son in law towed it home for me.. Started it up when he was here it ran ok but then just died like it was in gear and I was holding the brakes on.
 
Might be the shift mechanism. Check the ball joints on the linkages. It is possible to replace the plastic with hiem joints. BTDT
 
Yeah thought of that too.. I knwo when I got it the guy had said he just put a new clutch in it.. It never has really been right and had thought about pulling th etranny to make sure it was right but never did.. I did a clutch change on my first wife's 84 Daytona and I for got the clip that holds the rod for the throw out bearing. I came out some and so it would not lwt the throw out bearing sit flush on the pressure plate and ended up wearing out the fingers..Kind of hoping that is what is going on here.. Will know more when I get it down to the shop and pull it out
