Just stamp the numbers onto a non-original block you buy off of Craigslist. :BangHead:

I was going to comment about what a dirtbag the seller is, but you know…..I’m sure there’s someone out there who’s going to do exactly what he’s proposing.

This is exactly why the whole "numbers matching" thing is so goofy to begin with.

People freak out about a few numbers that were just stamped on the car. What does it change about the actual car? Nothing. If it has the right casting number, and the right production date range, and a blank VIN plate because it's a factory warranty block, why is that worth less than one that has some numbers stamped on it? Because it wasn't "original"? It's the same block, cast at the same time. The original engine and that warranty block could have been sitting side by side at the foundry, doesn't make a lick of difference to how the car performs.

For the record, I'm not condoning somebody stamping those numbers and passing it off as original, that's still fraud. I just think it's stupid that it will even make a difference to begin with.

If you're gonna pay a buttload more money because it's matching numbers, well, I guess you'd better do your homework.

Friggin Chevy blocks....Already .030 over but the "high nickel block" is so AFU, it needs to be bored again.
Meanwhile the Mopar crowd with actual high nickel can run and run and run...THEN a dingle ball hone and new rings and run and run and run.

Placed in the right vehicle, that block, unstamped, could bring similar money to a numbers matching block. Why counterfeit a block if not necessary?

If I bought a Yenko and it had a "matching numbers" engine that the seller stamped, I'd drive the car through his living room and get my money back.

There’s an early 70’s Duster of Marketplace in Michigan that is a 318 car. Same ad has a chopped up H code that comes with it including VIN and fender tag. It mentions putting these parts on the 318 car and titling it as an H code! Johnny Law would have a field day with these people!
