Thoughts on this LA360 combo

-
Thank you everybody...for the thoughts and help ...Im really hoping for the best (of course) as I have really put the car to sleep once I noticed a lil ticky and funny sound ..

This is my first horsepower filled motor and wanna keep her alive!

Ill order these heads ...and get the diamond coated lifters in hopes that if the cam isnt bad, the diamond like coating should help with the break in ....once I get it apart you better believe there will be pics in this thread lol ..and hopefully not the request of cam suggestions !

.until then its just a gentle tear from my eye as I walk past that car to my commuter while I wait for parts, thx boys

What I would with the intake off is also pull the distributor and get a priming tool and run the oil pump with a drill and then see if you can depress any of the pushrod side of any of the rockers with the drill running. If you can do that, then you really have an issue. If not, maybe see how long it takes until you can depress some of them. All in all, the most important thing will be the cam and lifter wear.

This will replicate the oil pressure of a running engine ? While spinning the drill to maintain pressure try to depress the pushrod down into the lifter..should be stiff correct? If they are still squishy that means no pump given to lifter?

Am I correct or is my thinking backwards in thinking that a lifter with little to no pump is gonna be gentle against a cam lobe ? Seems soft and squishy may not be hard pressure against the cam lobe ?
