It was a hard choice Monster Mopar (400 mile round-trip) or three 10,000.00 to win races and one 5000.00 gamers race at my local track Keystone (80 mile round trip). Both need the motorhome but I had to pick the local race. This is the thrid and last year on this engine combo and it needed some maintance this week. I get 2 plus years out of my waterpump gaskets and engine plate before it starts leaking so I tore the front apart and put new gaskets on, set the valves, and changed the oil. Sure would be nice to bring home one of those BIG checks.

Good luck, the 10k races will have better competition, and a better pay out. Moster Mopar is a much better chance of winning, but a smaller check...I would do the same.

I wouldnt. Going to Norwalk. Nothing against John, i like him. But his chances of winning are extremely small.
He would have a way more entertaining weekend being around his Mopar buddies.

I hear ya and it wasn’t an easy decision. I really enjoy Monster Mopar but our track has been hit hard with no shows and rainouts this year. If it would close my next closest track is Quaker City and it’s almost two hours away with crazy Turnpike tolls. Guys just aren’t racing like they used to.

Big money stuff, people show up. We have had one already this year at 131, another on tap. Both sold out entries ultra quickly.
If i win, i win. But i like seeing the guys i chat with online every day the one weekend a year i can. Have even more fun doing that. Love racing, but if i dont win a dime, its still a blast. Just love seeing only Mopars, and the KOS guys

Oh if my heads up car was done I would be there and I’m just a minnow in a shark tank. Hard to beat 3-4 man teams with professional engine builders and tuners. But I would have fun trying

Not seen really any such guys there in KOS except the Dart Best Machine did the motor for.
All the others guys are just with wives or whatever or maybe a buddy
My buddy is bring his new W9 deal to run KOS and hasnt been down the track yet or gotten spray hooked up yet even.
You must not be very familiar with that class to say that.... lol
Josh will have his Duster in it and i know that car has never been down the track either.
Bird is usually by himself, same with Leon Hudson and most others

Ok but even with one crew member it’s like night and day. Look how many guys helped on Josh’s car. I’m by myself at the shop and track and older than most.

Your also retired and have tons of spare time.
Your lucky, lol. I am older than you and work 7 days a week at our business.

My body is beat up from 33 years of Millwright work in a steel mill and on a limited race budget. Now add that I’m single I’m cook, bottle washer, landscaper, grocery getter, and as a parent of two boys I try to give them some money once in awhile because I would rather see them spend it now while I’m still alive.

I have not been to a Monster Mopar race in quite a few years. I love the Mopar only racing, but I could not stand how Josh pushed all the other classes around and catered to the KOS crowd...pissed off a lot of folks, and I for one have not been back for quite a few years because of it...well, that and the fact that he used to always have the race during NHRA North Central Division ET Finals (second weekend in September)...and if I made the finals I certainly would not be at MM. I've won a lot of money at MM in the past, maybe someday I'll give it another shot.

KOS doesnt get any more passes or better spot in the run order than anybody else.
Heck sportsman footbrake class pays the same as KOS does.
If you havent been in quite a few years Josh might not have been the promoter then. Think he has had it 6 or 7 years now is all.

If anyone gets priority it’s the NNS oldtimers. Large reserved parking area so no rush to get there. Don’t even try to park there. I do it just to make the guy get off his chair to throw me out of the area.

I get there early because even after those guys there are still tons of spots that have power, and i like getting a pit spot with electric.

The last time I went to a MM race was in Indy (run by Josh)...they bumped the run order (I use the term "run order" loosely since it was never the same) multiple times to cater to the KOS class (I'm assuming he was trying to get their race in before the rain hit). I forget the exact details, but I remember getting 1 time hit in the early morning, then not running again till evening. I still made the finals and took home the money (split due to rain out), but I felt bad for the folks that didn't have a car like mine that would repeat like a xerox machine...a lot of folks were pissed with all the shenanigans, and I had to agree with them...it was no way to run a race.

Hopefully things have changed for the better, because I love all Mopar races. I used to go the the one at Bandimere all the time when I lived in Colorado (not Monster Mopar, just an all Mopar race).

It’s nice to get power but not a priority to me. My motorhome has a 4000 watt Onan, and I have a 2000 watt honda, and 3400 watt champion generator. All very quiet.

Yea, that race was a little strange. That was a few years back. Not seen any issues since. All the run orders are posted on the Monster Mopar site and followed closely. I was there that year at Indy too but didnt race that weekend.

Good to know. Nice to see that some of the criticism was accepted and he acted upon it to better the racers experience.
