TIMING CHAIN COVER AND OIL PAN

I am putting my chain cover back on and there is a thick rubber type of seal that goes on the pan.
My question is this. If you look from the top of the seal it has the (we will call these the 2 holders that go into the pan) it appears that one is not on center. It looks like it would be one side is on center if you hold it in the right way. But I would like to know for sure.

It only goes on one way. The holes are different size from one side to the other. Put it on dry with a little lube on the tab to be pulled through. The a little RTV in the corners befor installing the timing cover
