Why do you hook the vacuum advance up to manifold on some distributors? I have a fbo system and was told to hook it up this way. Also, do you time the engine with it hooked up or not? In the Eddy carb setup book it says to do it this way if you have a long duration cam, mine is 237/242 @ .050 and .590 lift.

I've always hooked mine to the ported side of the carb which is on the left side of the carb as you are facing it. I have an Eddie carb also and my cam is 236/244 with a 544 lift and it runs best having it hooked to the ported side. I have a FBO setup on my car as well and Don at FBO recommended that I use the ported side of the carb.
