tips for removing windshield

any tips or tricks for removing the windshield from the car. I have a 76 dart sport and I need to change the gasket. Do I just cut the old one out or is there a locking strip some where?

Rob,
My '73 has a lock strip. However I would just cut yours out since you are replacing it. Much less chance of breaking the windshield.

thanks, I found the locking strip and then had to cut the rubber out after that, it appearts the previous owner had tried to seal the leaking gasket with silcon...
