Hello, FABO friends! Not planning a true restoration and have kept our '65 Barracuda 273 Commando pretty much stock (love the patina), but looking for tips on bringing back just a bit of luster to the exterior (no desire to repaint). See photos attached. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!

Thoughts on using Poppy's Patina? Just checked out their YouTube video and looks like it might be just what I need.

White rubbing compound and lots of elbow grease will bring back some sheen. Don't expect miracles, though.

Wash it with Dawn Dishsoap, cleans surprisingly well.

Other than that, the original finish is used up.

Needs a coat of Clearcoat used on the basecoat/clearcoat paint systems to save and protect what is still there.

Same as I did on my badly faded '89 Truck.

Clearcoated it one panel at a time under the Sun awning here in Florida. Really brought it back to life and now it is protected from the Ocean salt mist and the intense Sun as it sits outside here... no garage.

Have not cleared the passenger box side yet as you can see it is still faded, have some body work to do yet on that panel.

Big difference with minimal amount of work and expenses.

One of my old 67 Dodge dart was matching the original paint on.

Wow your pickup looks great. Thanks!

Yes pledge, old car lot trick, will shine it up for a while, but don't touch it. Works great on a car with better paint that they were lazy on care. But yours is coming off some so marginal results. Try it at the wrecking yard and see how you like it.

Don't do pledge if you are going to do the clear coat trick. And don't use rattlecan clear as it won't last very long.
