My owners manual states I should have 6.50 - 13 tires and 5x100 rims my car for its engine & body combo.
I don't know what rims I have, the tires on it are 185/80R13 and conversion tools online say I should have 175/80R13 but when I look up replacements for those 2 sizes they say "For Trailer Use Only".

To say this confuses me feels like an understatement.
I just want new tires that are rated for car driving, just typical all-weather tires would be fine. Any advice is welcome.

Rims should be a 5 bolt pattern, 4" on center. I've seen the kind of notation you're referring to regarding Goodyear Marathon tires and a few others. The best help I can give is to point you to Tire Rack. They show a Kumho Solus KR21 in a 185/70R-13 for $62 each plus the ride and installation. If you drop down to a 175/70R-13, there are several choices.

FWIW, I had a 66 273-2 that had the 4.5" wide, 13" diameter rims on it, same as yours. The owners manual stated that the car originally had 7.00-13 tires.

Another option is to go to 14" wheels. Every A-body that had disk brakes had to have 14" wheels as the 13" wheels would not clear the caliper assembly. Further, all Formula S and Darts with the Rallye package had 14" wheels and Goodyear Blue Streak tires. The latter cars had 5.5" wide wheels, where as the disk brake only cars usually had 4.5" wide ones.

The original tires were 24.6" diameter. That's what the specs say for a 650-13 tire. I would not put a smaller tire on it... the 185/70-13 is only 23.2" diameter and the 175/70-13 is an even smaller 22.7" diameter.

Get some 14" wheels and put something like a 205/70-14 on it. There are dozens of options available in that size.
