Hi everyone,

I need some help here.

I just recently bought a 68 cuda drag car with a 440 and firewall headers, When I try to turn the steering wheel the front tires start to rub the header tube.

Is this normal, what can be done to correct this.

I would like to fix this problem before I can drive this car on the road

Thanks for any and all the help you can offer

Rick

PS I love this cuda but its starting to piss me off

LOL

What size tire and wheel? You are gone need skinny tires and rims, especially if the car sits low in the front. Another option is to raise the front end up higher.

That's pretty common on "A" body big block with fender well headers. Original wheel was a 14". Like he said, smaller tire/wheel combo, or you can jockey with wheel offset. TTI or Schumaucher makes some nice "inside the frame" headers that will solve your problems. In the old days we would massage the header tubes just a little and change to a different torsion bar. Not to sound like a smart---, "A" bodies w/big blocks are made to go straight!

Those fenderwell headers require (a sometimes rediculously) small front wheel
with a very short tire to gain enough clearance for street use (and still rub!).

As noted above, TTi and others now make very nice under chassis headers that
will allow the use of a "normal" or larger front wheel and tire combo.

I always hated those things!

You probably should put the tire and rim size, it might help to get a few suggestions.
