Toad tires

I am wanting to use a larger tire size on my 62 Valiant. Does anyone know what size 14" (or maybe 15") will fit without rubbing the fender or frame? The width might also be a problem.

A mate is running 205/60 15's front and 245/60 15's rear, 235's would be better.

I am the mate and Marty is right. 235's would be better and the next set of tyres will probably be 235 on the rear

however I ran 245/60/14 on all four corners for years with only the lips on the front guards rolled. If you can get them then 245/50/15 should go under the rear with slightly better clearance than the 60's

Hi Joe Yes 235's will touch the standard guards but from memory it was only on the edge under the bumper bar and only on full lock. You can see where mine has been cut back if you look at the photo Marty has posted above .

It memory serves me correctly a 225\60\14 on a 7" rim with a 3.5" offset will go under without a single change.

235/60/14's on the rear with no problem(old style 7" slot), fronts 205/70/14 on a 6 " slot-- no problems as long as your rear springs are good.

On my Lancer wagon I am running 195/70R14 on 6 inch rim on the front and a 215/70R14 on a 7 inch rim on the back. Not as much tires as some other folks but they seem to look good on the wagon. I do get a little rub at full lock on one front fender. If the wheel was centered on the fenderwell it would be fine.
