Guys, i'm still confused about the right convertor. I've been offered a Fairbanks 3000rpm 10" stall convertor for my Dart.
My car runs a mild 360 with 3.23 rear. I cant find a manufacturers website to check any details, but unless the convertor 'flashes' in the way that Dynamic 'vertors do, i'm thinking that 3000rpm is too high?
Really difficult without testing the thing:scratch:

3.23's and a 3000 stall dont really mix. 3.91's would mix better. your gears would like a 2000-2500 range stall, but you need to know the powerband of your cam as well.

powerband on the cam is 1200-5500. Peak torque 3,200rpm. Figures are approx. 218/224@50 duration, ignition =16deg initial, 34deg@3000rpm all in.

sounds like you have your timing coming all in too late. it should all be in by2200-2500 on your setup. it also sounds to me like you only need about a 1800-2200 stall converter.

'Red' ignition is FBO and the distributor was custom curved to my particular spec. I may be wrongly describing the 'all in' at 3,000. The distributor will not allow any more advanced after 3000 is probably what i should have stated. As for the convertor, time to chase Dynamic as they still havent responded to my e-mails yet!

That sounds like a Dynaminc converter designed more for street bruising rather than general performance and tooling around town.
Otherwise, I would agree with Red.

rumble, convertor has to come out as i need to replace the trans front seal. Now is the time to replace the convertor. Reckon i'll eventually setle around 2,200 from what i've read
