Hello, I bought a 727 big block torque converter from a buddy a few years ago and he said it was a high stall, is there any way of telling how high? I know it's a long shot, :banghead: but the numbers that are stamped on it are 4443 3 and 160 98 it was originally gold and probably purchased at least 15 or 20 years ago. If nobody can ID the numbers can I tell by measuring it???

Absolutely no possible way to tell from the outside. Needs to be cut open and inspected by someone that knows what their doing. I have a guy near me that does it for $100 and that's the cheapest I've found anywhere. another thing you have to remember is a converter may stall 2500 behind one engine but 3500 behind another due to how much or how little power an engine makes. That being said, you'd have to give your combination specs to whoever is checking it for them to tell you how high it will stall in that application.
