...how will going from a 3.23 to a 3.55 or 3.91 gear affect the stall speed of the torque converter?

Good info , now I'm confused . Stall should be 500- 700 rpm under peak torque , what if your torque peaks @ 4700 rpm ? Can't see driving on the street or highway with that .Stall speed is engine rated, not drivetrain rated. It has to do with RPM of engine input.

As to your question, my experience is that the flash speed off idle is pretty much the same. The real difference is that more gear catches up to it faster. Meaning it just tightens up earlier in the pass/run. Most of the time on street cars, it's not a huge issue, as the gear will pull you versus riding the converter.
