I know this subject is going to seem elementary to most but I do not know a whole lot about torque converters and trannys. What does a 3000 or 3500 stall mean? and what is best? a higher stall?
Thanks

Stall is going to vary with lots of things such as cam, gears, car weight etc. The best thing you can do is call a good converter company such as ultimate, ptc, dynamic and tell them your combo.

Here's a quick article by Hughes that kind of explains it. http://www.hughesperformance.com/converters.php

The big thing with high stall converters is that they must be matched to the engine and more specifically your cam. Essentually you want the converter to operate in the meat of the horsepower and torque curves of the engine which is greatly controlled by the cam choosen but also any head work, intake, and rear end ratio.

I'm sure a few others will chime in on this one.
