Totally Pleased 440 Duster

With the gas milage on my 440 duster. 500-550 horse at the crank. 50 miles on 3.66 gal. I come up with 13.66 MPG. I'll take it. Whats your car getting?

Nope. It's an 1971 RB 440. Next trip may only be 3 MPG but for now it's 13.66 MPG.

That's pretty darn good mileage. My 360 got 11.8 last time I had it out. That was with 4:10 gears. I just rebuilt a different 3rd member and put 3:73 gears in. Hopefully saturday I'll have it all finished and see how it does with the bigger gears.


btw: do you have to run premium or just regular? I have to run premium which makes it worse.

I get around 14-15 with an all stock '69 340. Pump gas premium. It will ping on anything less with those open chamber X heads.
