I'm going to pull my Valiant from north Jersey to mid Florida next week as well as my motorcycle in the tow van. I bought a used heavy duty tow dolly)no brakes), put on new C-load tires with spare, new wheel bearings and seals, all new lights with extra magnet set, and new heavy duty straps. My tow vehicle is a 1997 Dodge 2500 cargo van, 5.9 with new overdrive trans. and brakes. I'm changing oil, filter and air cleaner, checking all fluids, air pressures, etc.. I have spares for Valiant, van, and tow dolly, hydraulic jack, box of tools, wires, bulbs, connectors, tape and fuses, cell phone and a flashlight. I'm a little nervous about doing this 1250 mile trip and have only used a tow dolly once before on a short trip thing, so I want to be sure I have everything covered as much as possible. I want to ask anyone here that may have towing experience if there's anything you can think of that I should look at before shoving off. Thanks Mike

Mike, just make sure your load is properly secured with all lights working properly. Remember you need a little extra braking distance. Have a safe trip :)

What I would do is, take the car around the block once on the car dolly and do some quick stops and make sure the car dosn't roll around and lossen the straps, chain the car to the dolly and chain the dilly to the tow vehicle. I alsmost lost the Demon the first time out. But now that I know no problem. Good luck and with some carefull checks you should have no trouble!

a little late but I hope you dropped the drive shaft, and kept a good eye on the straps I had the loose end get run over and lost a strap ( I had 6 straps so no big deal ) good luck
