Tow points under K member

Why is that?
Cus, wrong tool for the job, and if not used right will bounce off what they are hooked to. those flat hooks should be used on the flat bar, like the side of a trailer, then have a wrap of the webbing holding the hook on… kinda like this but the round part should be rolled once more clockwise so the strap is pulling up in the hook and not on the webbing.

Yep… same reason you alway strap your dirtbike down with hooks pointing up depending on your trailer hook orientation. If the strap relaxes the hook will fall off . After a long ride with a friend as we were driving down a rough mountain road and I glance in my side mirror to see his bike dragging along side the trailer. Luckily we were only going about 15 mph ! I asked him if how he hooked his tiedowns and he said “ what do you mean ?”… lol
The bike was ok….

Opening up a can of worms but….

This guy is feeding Bullshit to sell his product. We have been hauling everything for over 50 years . If your hooking your wrap around straps to an area where it can migrate you shouldn't be hauling anything.

Many times we haul different cars. Our floor would look like swiss cheese to mount his product for different width and length vehicles.

Usually the front straps are short for tongue weight. Did you notice how long his front straps are? He needs upgrades on his trailer Like more tie down D-rings in the floor before he advises anyone. That long strap is like a rubber band. That length? he should be using chain and binders

I saw a guy jack knife his open trailer with long straight straps. The car shoved the fender against the tires and went over the fender destroying the rockers and the trailer.

This trailer we built with on board chain ratchets and D-rings down the side for straps. Note: We built it with the rear chains and a D-ring in the center. Wonder why?

Nice ad for their L shaped wheel chocks. I have U bolts in the frame on the rear, so nothing is migrating to the center in the rear. I agree not to cross straps in the front. In my situation I'm going to fab something to go around the back of the K member where the strap attaches that will cushion the sharp edges on the back of the K member. This is the least expensive thing to try in my situation.

I use "J" hooks and chains on my car. I don't take chances.
ENCLOSED TRAILER I have been wrapping my front tow straps, with a sleeve, around my K member, but occasionally when I hit some bad bumps it cuts the tow strap. I've been thinking about welding something under the K member to attach tow hook to, or is there a better way. Can't do tire straps, can't get to them once car is inside trailer.

Race car or show car?
A buddy with his street/bracket car would leave a chain around the rear axle under the brake line to hook his strap hook.left it on all the time. In front had a large hook that would fit around strut rod at front. Only two points but worked well for many trips, and easy to hook up at the end of the night.
I like crossed rear straps but worry about losing one allowing the car to shift to the side. Less likely with straight back straps.
There’s many ways to peel an apple. I’m sure many dirt racers count on winch cable only in the front, and tire bonnets on the rear. No front strap at all!

That hook-up is backwards. You want a positive hook from the rear (chain or cable) in case of a forward crash or panic stop. The front straps or bonnets would be fine, unless you are pulling with a 426 Hemi. LOL

And MMissle, great pics of your K u-bolts! I’m gonna add one to my car. Don’t enjoy putting an axle strap around the k with a very warm engine
