It was recommended by a bystander to overinflate my G60-15 Goodyear Polyglas GT tires while bracket racing with a 3.23 open 8 3/4 rear end (383 automatic) which naturally was spinning the right side tire on launch. I don't remember if I went to 40 or 45 lbs. but the trick worked, consistent launches with little or no wheel spin thereafter! One would have thought using less air would have improved the footprint, but not in this case.

I would just be worried about the psi build up as the tire heats up, wouldn't want a blow out at high speed!

Passenger car tires are not made for decreased pressure. As you decrease pressure in them, only the outside treads come in contact with the track. People make that mistake trying to get traction in the snow too and they usually get stuck.
