Hi, i have never done it, but i looked into it a few years back. google "trademark attorneys" or "patent and trademark attorneys" as they usually do patents as well. there were a few you could call or email for a free consultation. it is a similar process to a patent, requiring a search to verify it is already not in use. then an application to get it.
the first step is to copyright, which is enforceable even if not registered, simply document the date you created or began using it, this can be done by mailing it to yourselv via registered mail. tell the clerk at the post office what you are doing and have them stamp the "registered" stamp across all flaps and seams of the envelope. DO NOT OPEN THE LETTER! if you ever have to prove the date of your copyright, you open the letter in court. adding a copyright statement and date at the bottom of a web page, artwork, or just about anything graphic or printed also creates a copyright.
hope this helps, Doug
