I just picked up on a newer 5 freeze plug \6 to go into my 68 Valiant. The question I have is this.
The old cracked block motor has the block numbers 2463430-13. The tranny is an auto 3speed.

The newer motor that will be going into the car after rework has the block number 2806830-8. It came with a 3 speed auto tranny.

Can I get away with not pulling the current tranny that is in the car? Or should i just match up the new motor with the tranny that came with it?

Should be the same 68 and up used the larger crank register but due to the age of the car you never know compare the back end of the cranks to be sure also measure the knob on the front of the torque converter to be sure.

If for some reason, you have an early transmission (not likely) then you can get an adapter ring that will work. You'll also need a new flexplate. If it was the other way around, you'd have more problems.
