Good evening all,
A few years back at Carlisle, a vendor had a trailer load of rebuilt crated transmissions and I picked one up.
Totally rebuilt in 1988 at tha Tooele Army Depot, Utah.(fully decorated)Still bolted in wooden crates.
Anyways I’m getting around to it and would like to know what I got. It’s a A727 and the best I can see it has
PK3898866 5624 6226 on the pan rail.
( read with inspection mirror hope it makes sense) Hopefully you guys (and girls) will tell me if I scored or not. I figure it’s probably a truck tranny but hoping it’s something I can use. Thanks

3898866 transmission build date is December 20 1976. It is a 727, non-lockup,long tail shaft transmission. It's from a1977 Dodge truck or 1 ton B300 Tradesman van.

When I served in the USMC, 1977-1983, that's the A727 we used in the USMC version of our military's Power wagon. It's a stout piece. Might not be good for racing, but for off road, it was hard to kill. I spent some time in the Motor Pool.

I have that same style 727 from a '76 D100 now in my '76 D100. Good street manners with the 3.55 factory rear gears.

That's cool, army surplus parts you have there, even has the army stencil printing on the wood crate.

I just purchased one for my project,
Did you yet to install? Thanks
