Hello FOAB's,

I've been reading a lot of mixed reviews on Transmission Flushes on classic cars. Some say that if it hasn't been done regularly that your in for some issues. Some say that to just drop the pan, drain the oil and change the filter and your good to go.... I got a 65 and don't believe it's upkeep was the every 30k recommended. Any experiences folks to stay away from this?

I would just do a normal transmission service. My belief is your asking for trouble flushing it.

Yeah... too many posts online avoiding the flush. Just a normal transmission service indeed.

Clean the pan and magnet, Change the filter, Drain the Torque converter, And adjust the bands. Refill with modern fluid.

I can see no advantages to performing a flush.

yep drain and fill. sometimes the only thing keeping a transmission working is the old clutch material in the fluid and flushing it takes all that out and leaves not enough to engage clutches anymore. or can knock things lose and cause them to do bad things when they get their freedom lol
