Just bought '72 Challenger that came with pulled transmission, but I have no idea what the hell it is or if it will even bolt to my 440.

On top of the transmission it says "900-4" in several different places and then on the side it says "2466900". I have googled both of these numbers and have been able to pull up nothing.

Then above the pan there is the numbers "H2538334". I googled this and found a guy selling his Cuda with a 727 that had this number but it was for a 380.

If this is indeed a 727, will it work with my 440?

This is a 361/383 1966 727 trans.

got it, Is there any difference in the gearing of 727 for a 383 than one for a 440?

Can anyone tell me what the actual difference is between a 727 off of a 383 and a 440? Is it a difference in the bell housing bolt pattern or the flywheel bolt pattern?

they have the same bellhousing ...that is why it fits.

727 do not have flywheels...they have flexplates...the flexplate bolts to the crank and the converter...
