my ole 904 i starting to give up the ghost and im looking for suggestions on what parts i should rebuild it with. i dont know a lot about transmissions so bare with me:blob:

my current set up
65 dart 2780 lbs
380 395hp crate motor
904 with a hughes 3500 stall
8.75 with 3.91s

the car is track only and i kinda want to install a transbrake and a higher stall converter.

would it be cost effective to buy trans thats already built or rebuild the one i have?

i plan on spraying it in the future

Build it with good bands, strut, rear servo and clutches (reds/kolenes if you want) and run it. ~200 in parts and you should be back in business along with a new tailshaft. Stock clutches and steels will handle that without much issue.

Check the sprag close, because you likely hurt it with your wheelhop/tailshaft busting adventure.

thanks crackedback. i just read something about installing a sleeve around the rear servo to keep it from wearing out? is this something i should look into? my current trans also has a bad overlap issue from 2nd to 3rd and along with the spring in the front drum this could also be adding to my issue
