transmission wont move in 1st

took the dart out to the track tonight for some fun runs.

made a few successful passes...

on the last pass i went through the water box, did a 1-2 burnout and when i went to put it back in 1st it acted like it was in park, as if something is binding in the trans. it has every gear except 1st. transmission is a 904 with a 3800 stall and a shift kit with some upgraded bands and clutches

Don't mess with it too much before it gets torn down for a rebuild or repair or you will just cost yourself more money.
You have what sounds like a broken and wedged against the drum rear band.
Possibly a wasted rear one way clutch. (Sprag) also.

the transmission has a had an overlap issue from 2nd-3rd for a while now. its also had a mean vibration going into drive. so its due for a rebuild

Ah, the direct clutch shudded.
Yep it's been tired for awhile then.

Sorry, I wrote shudded, and I meant shudder.
It means the main input clutches were slipping but it feels like a vibration.
Clutches kind of grabbing then slipping, then grabbing. (Shudder)

ok gotcha, it feels like it boggs a lil too. i plan on building another trans with a brake. what else should i upgrade besides the clutches and bands?
