can you guys give me some tips about troubleshooting a truck that doesnt start? i am looking at one today, and i can bring it home if i can get it to start, so what do you guys think?

its a 1990 ford f-150 5L 5-speed. reg cab. long box

just got back.. theres nothing when a booster isnt hooked up, but when a booster is hooked up, it makes a clicking noise when i try to turn it over.. i really need to get this running

i changed out the battery, because it has been sitting for years. and im guessing that battery wasnt good either, i guess ill have to bring out the trusty interstate :p

check battery cables for corrosion and clean as needed.could be a dirty/bad connection at the starter as well.

i crawled under the truck, the starter looks like a good connection, but the battery cables are corroded, how do i clean them?

they sell terminal cleaners at most parts stores.a wire brush or sand paper will also work, however avoid breathing the dust its not exactly health food lol.
