I have a friend restoring a roadrunner. It already had quarters replaced when he got it. Was the trunk just painted body color, or was it coated first?

The inside of the quarter panels would have been sprayed with undercoating before being welded on. Its purpose was to add strength to the panel. Seam sealer was applied and then the trunk was sprayed body color.
