trunk release

Just found something cool on my 71 scamp, I found a trunk release in the glove compartment and in the trunk is a vacumm release lever on the catch. Is this a factory add on or a real old aftermarket add on?

I think the release is from another car since most 1970's Mopar's used electrical solonoid style mechanical openers. The vacum style would be a pain because you would have to run a hose back to the trunk. The one you have is likely from a Charger/Roadrunner. Go with the electric one. You'll have a lot less grief. I have one of those and it works great and is way more compact and original for your car. The vacum one is not.
