Anybody have TTI headers with the bungs installed for O2 sensors ? I just got my new set this week and am not happy that the sensor bungs are on the outside of the collector, I wanted them on the inside so you don't see them. The dealer I bought them thru is looking into it on monday. Is this were TTI puts them on all of their headers?

I would have gotten no bungs in the header, then added a bung a few inches after the flange..

Me too, oh wait I did. :D
Facing the bell housing and up at a 45 angle on the inside of the pipe.

After reading a LOT about the A/F sensors and placement I used pipe color to determine where to install the bung.
Different discoloration of the exhaust tubing relates to different temperatures and the sensors like to be within a certain range of exhaust heat to read correctly.
It's not super critical or anything, but if it's a choice it might as well be in a good functional position.
In my system it was right after the collector flange.

Thanks for your opinion but thats not how I want my system, my old Tubular Automotive headers with the sensor bung in the collector, ON THE INSIDE worked fine.

To further state my opinion, I wanted the bung after the collector so if I ever sold them, it wasn't with a hole drilled in them, and the sensor was reading off the full bank.

And to answer your question, yes it does look like the default install position from TTI is on the "outside" of the collector..

I know after reading their catalog closer I screwed up I didn't read the bung installation option close enough. I am
Going to try and return them but since they were special order I may not be able to , have to wait and see what the dealer can do, they might end up for sale in the parts for sale section

Did you not read info on the TTI site before you ordered?

I have the 1 7/8 race headers, small block, A-body. I think the part no is 34017835. I can confirm that the O2 bung is on the outside for these. I also thought the positioning was not ideal.

TTI was very good to work with when I bought my headers. I had ordered the wrong size collector for a 2 1/2" system but was going with a 3" system. When I called they had me send the incorrect ones back and then sent me the 3" all within a week. No additional charges so Im betting you will be taken care of.
        Best of Luck

I know they are "special order", but since it's a standardized option, hopefully they will take them back. I know it can be frustrating when you drop some cash, only to realize it won't work

        good luck!

Thanks guys, the thing is I hardly pay attention to the sensor gauge as I am mainly focused on driving and going rounds. I probably could have done with out the bungs altogether.

----------THIS , is what fast recommends for bung location, supposedly won`t give a full 4 tube reading if that close to tubes.

I would not expect them to allow you to return them but if they do....then say thanks for the great service even though they do not have to do that. Been running my tti's for about 10 years now on my big block duster drag car. Fitment has been great, they are getting scratched up from taking the engine in and out every season but the quality is great. Love em!!

I kept them and put them in last weekend, they fit well, I had to modify my shifter cable hold down but other than that it went well, I was able to get rid of the 90 degree filter adapter which always seemed to leak. I just had it running a little while ago and everything sounds good no leaks. They do fit close to the trans pan which is now i see why the bungs are on the outside but they fit up in the car tighter so you can`t even see the bungs/wires.

You could always put a plug in them and weld a bung wherever you want.

My old headers had two bungs because I used to have a FAST system using both bungs I sold the system and now have a gauge and am only using one bung on my new TTI s and have a plug in the other. I was worried about seeing the wire but since they are installed in the car they fit up in the car more and you can't even see the bungs/ wire.
