Hi fellows

I think that my turn signal switch is broken.

Right position : normal blinking
Left position : the two green arrows blink, rear left bulb blink, the two front bulbs blink.
Neutral position : right green arrow blink, rear bulbs off, the right front bulb blink.
The hazard flasher works fine.
In brief, it's a mess.

I tried to replace the turn signal flasher, but the issue remains.

I suppose that the turn signal switch is defective.

Another opinion?
:thankyou:

Francois

I got an answer by myself.
After removing the steering wheel and the turn signal switch, I saw this one is totally out of service.
One terminal is broken, three cut wires... I don't undestand how this turn signal switch could work before the failure??
It will remain a mystery :D

Anyway, I would like to buy this one :
https://www.ebay.com/itm/4029893501...l:Dart&hash=item5dd4097d0e:g:wjMAAOSwN-pg-i32
But the wire colors differ from the original ones.
Will it work correctly?

Don't know if it would work but as long as it has all the same functions for each wire the color is not too important ( except later when you or someone else tries to trouble shoot it.)

you would just put the wire ( regardless of color) in the correct socket for the function
Is the ebay switch the only one you could find or the cheapest?

With wire colors being different (assuming the one in the car now is the correct one) you might want to keep looking

Does the switch appear damaged? Maybe it got loose in there and was rubbing on parts inside the column as the wheel was turned? "Might" be fixable I don't know from the photos. Wish you luck.

Not the cheapest, but this seller send internationally.
I found a cheapest one ($22.00), but it seems that the seller doesn't want to sell abroad.

No, unfortunately, the switch isn't fixable. One terminal is broken, and the hazard switch is in a bad shape too :(

three cut wires... I don't understand how this turn signal switch could work before the failure??
the pink wire looks to have black on it in post number 5 is that real or optical illusion. perhaps the wires got cut / pinched at some time (earlier R and R?) and just finally let go.

"R and R" = Remove and Replace or Remove and Reinstall

Isn't what you showed part of the hazard switch? If you can live without that you can actually bypass it, rewire the switch, and move on. I don't remember how to do this, I'd have to have an example switch. "In the early 70's" I actually did this with 3 switches, including my own (then) 70RR. In all three cases the brake lights stopped working, and the trouble was in the hazard switch. I moved a wire or two, soldered a jumper or two, and cut off the hazard switch knob so it could not be activated. This gave you proper operation of signals and brake lights.

The broken part I showed isn't part of the hazard switch. It's the main turn signal switch.
And I don't want to delete the hazard flasher function.
It's why I'm going to buy a brand new complete turn signal switch and restore my steering column to its original shape.

Thereby I’ll be sure that I won’t have any problem anymore :D

I understand what happened to this turn signal switch.
67dart1973 was right (sorry 67dart1973) : it's the hazard switch which burned (missing terminal) and a precedent owner did install a separate hazard switch from an other car. It's why this module was glued into the steering column.

Dirty job with tin weldings and tape, but the hazard was working.

So, the turn signal issue came from the other side.

All seem normal, but I think that the problem came from too many modifications, poor connections and brittle wires.

No matter, a new switch is ordered. :)

:thankyou:all

I think that I am headed down this same path Francois. What switch did you procure and are you happy with the results?

merci
