Im finally upgrading my 1965 225 Holley one barrel pisser
To a two barrel Carter squirted……..
I have my pedal and accelerator cable but what’s the fix for the kick down?
I’d rather not go aftermarket cable but if needed……

Thanks

That's tough, because the super six kickdown linkage is VERY difficult to find. Plus, is that transmission also cable shift? You're just about going to have to go aftermarket. I would contact Bouchillon. They have nice products, IMO. Just know, you will have a little fab work to do.

Maybe skin the cat another way. Look at the parallel 2bbl setup article. Photo documentation of a very well done such conversion is here, and there's a nice pictorial on modifying a 1bbl intake here.

I have a factory original super 6 intake already but I like the parallel setup made from a 1bbl intake because 1 bbl intakes are so much easier to find, you probably already have one. And while I'm on hold with mine for other reasons that have nothing to do with turning wrenches or even money for needed parts/ one of which is deciding on which tranny I want to run (if I put the stick in then KD is a moot point) but in a "run what is already collecting dust on my attic" mentality if I stay automatic I am probably gonna try a lokar cable deal since I have that (couple actually) and the previously mentioned "hard to find" idea on stock original super 6 KD linkage that I don't have/ unless I can get lucky at either the swap meet im going to in Lockport IL or at the end of the month down in Indy.... I actually have a pretty long list of "smalls" I'm gonna be looking for at both of them.

If you could find the factory super six kickdown, though, that would be the easiest way to go, even if you have a cable shift trans. I used the super six throttle bracket and kickdown on my 63 Valiant, after converting to cable throttle. It has a four barrel carb, so I had to mildly modify the two barrel stuff, specifically: (1) lengthen the flat linkage from the carb to the throttle bracket by welding together a 400 piece cut in half (MOL) to half (MOL) of the two-barrel slant six piece; (2) moving the throttle cable bracket forward a bit by cutting and re-welding; (3) and by cutting the rod going down to the trans and the rod coming up from the 63 trans and welding them together. Obviously, you measure before cutting, but that's pretty simple.

BROTHER, that’s a thing of ART !!!!!!
Unfortunately, replicating is near impossible.
I’m gonna look into some cable set ups

If you're custom-making/custom-modifying kickdown and throttle linkage, keep in mind the geometry is important. It has to be configured such that the stroke from closed to full-open throttle matches the stroke from stop to stop down at the transmission kickdown shaft. Not longer or shorter at one or the other end. Otherwise, you'll never get the trans to upshift and downshift correctly.

Personally Ive used half a dozen of the cheap cable kits from ebay on mopars and jeeps. . But ive been accumulating 90s rams for parts. I think Ill use a factory ram cable on my next swap. I suggest a switch to a cable for cost and simplicity.
