u bolts and shock plates

My plates are from the 8 3/4 rear my new u bolts came from National moparts not aftermarket like Canadian tire.Is it normal to have to squeze the u bolt in a bit to get it in the holes of the plates? I thought they would of lined right up and drop in easy.

Not uncommon but be careful of the fine threads.

As dusterny said, you usually have to put a bit of a squeeze on them to line them up with the holes in the shock plates.

65 Vart,I would have to dig out my paper work,I paid 18 dollars for one u bolt and one nut.Guess what Guys the dumb *** here was holding the plate the wrong way,the u bolts drop in perfect now.God do I feel stupid.
