U joint size

Am I correct in thinking cars fitted with the 7.25 from factory would of had the smaller u joint 7260?car in questions is a 70 dart.

Only asking as the 'new' 8.75 that's going on is 7260 and if that's that case it should all match up once the shaft is shortened. And I won't need to mess about getting a new one etc

If it's not, and they differ how do I measure the u joint to work out what size it is?

I don't know but I do know you can get a u joint with the small and large cups to adapt if needed.

The cap diameter for the 7260 is 1.078" & the 7290 is 1.125”
The inside dimension of the yoke between where the caps of the ujoint mounts is 2-1/8" (7260) & 2-5/8" (7290).

I did see these but Trying to avoid any unnecessary expense at the moment!

If needs must I will purchase but if it's going to bolt straight up then I can spend that on something else
