U Joint

I have had 2 front U joints go out with in the last 2 weeks. The first one lasted 500 miles and a lot of gear banging, but the second one last all of 20 miles. I have a hemi 4 speed that is bolted to a 340 that has been stroked 416 and is supercharged. It just plain flies. Has anyone out there had the same troubles? Please let me know, Joe

things to check:

1..what kind of shape is the trans mount. at the bareminimum i'd get a poly one.

2..What is your pinion angle set at?

3..what size of joint are you using (the small a body one?)

there's three things that could be doing it

Also do you know there is a correct way and incorrect way to install a u-joint. The grease fitting must be in compression not expansion when the car is moving.

I've never heard of that before...sounds like useful info.
