I was wondering if its bad that the gear for the distributor is still in the hole :\

Not at all . Mopars have an intermediate shaft ,the gear is driven off the cam
the shaft drives the oil pump and the dizzy drops in the slot on top .
New to mopars ? :read2:

Take a look at the bottom of your distributor's shaft. It has a "blade" that resembles a large flat screwdriver. That blade fits into a slot in the top of the intermediate shaft, like jomoper said.

Well just to the 318 block lol, well anything other than a slant :p Yeah i was thinking it was bad cause i didnt see the gear on the end of the distributor like my slant, i asked some dudes at checkers but they didnt have a clue. I read about it yesterday in the yearone catolog i have. So is it still possible to set teh timing at exactly TDC??
