Hello all of you i have this question. It can sound like a pretty dumb question but when you say that the lifters uncovers the gallery do you mean that the skirt on the lifter is passing the oil hole in the gallery so the oil can leak downwards out of the hole with the result of loss in pressure. Because i have always thought that you mean that the oil hole on the lifter that feeds the cylinder heads is climbing over the edge of the lifters bore with a result of bad oil pressure. When i started to build this engine a couple of years ago did i reed that you had to bush the bores to have pushrod oiling on a La block but then i did reed on shaddy dells site that there was a cheaper way to pushrod oil a La engine that was to tube both galleries and the drill a small 0,035 oil feed hole in the tube in each bore. So i did that then i installed a comp cams xr286r roller and i have drived it about 1000 miles on streets and on race tracks and now i have teared it apart and all the mains is still like new. And now i have bought a new camshaft a comp cams rx302s roller and thing thats worry me is that the oil hole on the lifter is 0,070 under the edge of the lifters bore is that a problem? i am not uncovering the oil hole in the tube downwards so that is not a problem. but is the other thing a problem. the picture is how i have restricted oil to the heads to get more to the mains

When the oil band on the lifter pops up and out of the lifter boss, then the oil gets out and lowers pressure.
