68 barracuda 440 - 727 - 8 3/4 ( 742 housing)
Going of photo measurements attached, What Uni joint will suit this diff yoke for 600 h/p . Possible transbrake usage in future , street /strip car , 26 -27 " tire (undecided) , 3.9 ratio , revs no more than 6k

Axle:
Will my 30 spline axle 4" pattern be good enough.

Centre:
What centre is this?

If i can get away with what I have for now without spending the money on things I dont need will be helpful.

Many thanks for any guudance

Check with Dr Diff

I think you will be going to a dana 60 after you use the trans brake with a true 600 hp motor and slicks a few times.

But for now use the 7290 yoke. If your driveshaft is the small 7260 size you can use the big to little convertion u joint to fit it together.
I think you will break the carrier caps that hold in the sure grip before you break the u joint. jmo

Are you using after market 28 inch axles?

You can redrill those flanges for the 4 1/2 x 5 bolt pattern.

Right now it looks like you are set up for a 7260 Ujoint.
(The non greasable 7290 would be a lot better for that and the 7290 yoke can be gotten from Denny's Driveshaft.)
The case is a 742 housing 8.75 with a clutch type Sure Grip.

I dont have the shaft yet. I want to find out what unis i would need then make them all fit. i am thinking 3 " shaft.
Going of my photos, what uni would that take? wondering if i cna use the same diff yoke or change that too?

Thanks Trail beast.
Are my 30 spline axle safe enough you think?

One way to find out.:D
The 29 spline is pretty tough, so one would think you should be fairly safe.
At least the Barracuda is a light car.
Whoever mentioned redrilling those axles has a good point.
They have enough meat to be drilled for 4.5 bolt pattern, but there's been plenty of fast cars with the 4 inch.

Everything can be fixed, so do what I do.
Don't risk breaking something out of town.:D
