I recently had a swap done on my '63 Dart from 170 to a 225 from 1983. The engine is resting on the bar that's between the wheels under the car. I believe this is causing road handling problems as well. Do I need to switch out the oil pan from the 170? Will it fit? What to do?

Yes, you need to swap to your original oil pan AND oil pickup. Also check your motor mounts.

the oil pans are different from the early slant sixes to the later 1962-66 used the same motor mounts from your original block also you need to use a crank adapter between the torque converter and the back of the crank with out that you will run into problems 1967 and up has a bigger diameter crank register vs your 1963 block that has a small one

That's correct.

No, 1968 is the first year for the larger crank flange counterbore and torque converter nose in Slant-6 applications.
