So I have a valve body ready to go into my trans tomorrow. It is a 1971 VB.

I see that there is an adjustment for the line pressure and from what I could find it says to measure from the housing to the lowest part of the adjustment screw? The measurement should be 1 5/16. I did not mess with this adjustment when I took the valve body apart, I just push it and compressed the springs to get the 3 screws on. So in theory it should be at the same adjustment as before?

And my last question is what is the hex nut with the screw through it? I broke the nut loose just to screw it out to let the valve come out and did the same putting it back hopefully in the same position.

I have the book by Tom Hand and it does not mention the screw adjustment as it seems there are so many variants of VBs throughout the years.

Does anyone know how these should be adjusted or 1971 service manual specs?

This is in the same spot before I took it apart, does this look correct?

What is this screw and how should it be adjusted?

Some kits call for seven threads showing. Looks like you have about that. That screw is the weird way that Chrysler limited the movement of the KD arm.

Good to know. Like I said, I did my best to make sure everything is in the same position as it was before I took it apart. So hopefully it works out alright.
