van tranny in 68 barracuda

bought a tranny out of a 58 model van for a 68 barracuda installed the tranny but shifter housing and linkage is to high and the torsion bar member i guess its called is in the way of moving the shifter how to make this look and fit properly View attachment IMG_1317.jpg

The shifter is supposed to be just on the back side of the cross member where it is cut away slightly. Unfortunately your transmission does not have the proper mounting location for a shifter in an a body (that is not a short tailshaft a body transmission). Additionally you will need a body shift rods. You are in luck though,if you look in the tech section at bigblockdart.com there is an article on how to fabricate a shifter relocating bracket to position it properly
