venturi vs. throttle bore

While looking at carbs I see some have a "venturi" (sp?) size listed, while others have a throttle bore size listed. What's the differance?
 
i think one is above the throttle blades and the other is level with the blades
 
The venturi is where the passage is smallest and the main fuel delivery boosters are. They are also called chokes and can be changed in some carbs like webers. Typical side draft webers would have 45mm throttle bores and 36mm chokes.
