I'm the guy masking off the front wind shield while the front end is being base coated with mellow yellow. The paint & clear coat turned out real good, very little polishing will be needed. The ventilation was real good! My two friends who are painting the car do car reconditioning at dealerships upholstery repair, wood dashes, bumpers, ding & scratch repair. My friend Dave is pleased with the new gun he used on my car the paint flowed on nice & even. When I get around to it I'll post pics from start to finish.

Thats awesome. Turned the garage into a paint booth. How did everything turn out? Anything you would have done different?

Used Deltron BDC turned out great only used a third of a gallon, then shot it with clear. The paint & clear turned really good real happy, I wouldn't have changed a thing except buy less base coat. The paper on the floor worked out good too.

I see in one of the videos that the fans are blowing out some overspray. Were there filters before the fans? Was it an HVLP or LVLP paint gun? I am thinking about doing the same in my garage, but worried about getting overspray on the house/cars in the driveway though.

thanks

Don't know about where everyone else is, but here the use of HVLP has been mandated.

And if you decide to do this at home, make sure you're cool with your neighbors. One sniff around here and code would be on my *** in a hurry, along with DEC and nice hefty fine.

Forgot to say to the to the OP: cool vids!

I have an Astro LVLP gun currently, but only shot single stage, and only a hood so far.

I was thinking about spraying durring the daytime, or better yet night time to have less people out and about.

My friends paint gun is a HVLP my neighbors are cool I think it's easier in the winter when everyone has there windows closed as fair as to what was coming out of the fans was already dry. Some cities are pretty tough about it, making it hard on the guys that do bumper & paint repair at dealerships even with water born paint. The fans where more for ventilation so you could see what you are doing. Where I was taping from was the intake part clean clear air.:read2:
