Here is the fender tag & build sheet from my 71 Swinger, It has the 318, 904 with an 8.3/4 rearend, i'm sure the 8.3/4 is original on this car, where would the "code" be for proof on this? I was sure it was the 51 for Axle. Thanks.

You'd have to trace it via the Axle code on line 4, 143

Won't appear on the fender tag.

So how would i trace it? Aren't there any books out there for this stuff, i remember "Govier" had one, i think that was his name, i had his book along time ago, but lost it.
 
Your axle code is D51. That translates to 69-71 A and E body 7.25" axle, 1 3/8" pinion, 2:76 gear ratio. Not an 8 3/4, sorry. Hope this helps, Geof
 
looks like someone changed your rearend then...if you have an 8 3/4 installed.

just curious how did you get the d51 lol. i get confused with the codes and all and am trying to learn
 
1 other option your car has according to the buildsheet is the A61 which is:Automatic Special Package--Light package,Auto Transmission,LH Outside Remote Chrome Mirror,Body Belt Moldings,Bumper Guards -FT/RR,"Rim Blow"Steering Wheel.6.95x14 Whitewall Tires (std),Vinyl Roof,Deluxe Wheel Covers,Protective Vinyl Insert Body Side Moldings
