Vinyl Top on 73 swinger

I was just wondering if anyone has removed the vinyl top on a dart because of its condition, I just bought a 73 dart and the top is pretty ripped up so i need to know whats underneath the vinyl i.e. metal or what so i can cut out rust etc. Any help would be appreciated

Just metal underneath. If your top is ripped up you're probably seeing the roof rust poking through now.

Ya im guessing mine will have a lot of rust as well. So did you just cut out all those spots and put new steel in?

my 73 Swinger originally had a full vinyl top, but was later removed and the car was painted that bright green. I'm painting it viper blue and putting a vinyl top back on. I found where the rust had started, treated the whole rood with POR15, filled in the damage and sprayed a sealer primer (epoxy) on it.
