Visiting the states for the first time. Things to do?

I will finally be visiting the sates with my family on the 17th to the 24th this month, Im very exited. We will be around New York, Philadelphia and Rochester. Im wondering if anyone could advise any car related things to do? Does anyone know any good speed shops, car museums, swap meets or shows? I thought I would ask for some advice here so my dad and me dont put my mom through hell trying to find and check lots of places out. Any info would be great!

When you're in Philly, check out Reading Terminal Market when you're hungry. It's near the Convention Center.
