This has probably been asked before, but I couldn't find a link. I have just bought a '64 Valiant 2 door. Used to have a slant and three on the tree, now has empty space. Looking to install a small block probably, MAYBE a big block. Friend of mine has a Volare front suspension, k member, spindles, brakes...basically the whole front shebang. Will this k member and suspension bolt up to the existing framework in the front of my '64 Valiant, or do I need to do I just need to buy the stuff for the brakes set up and be happy with that?

THis is gonna be my winter project car, so I'd like to start gathering parts now as they become available, and cheap(ish)....

Any help or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

I will let someone else weigh in on the exact information on this. The Volare is big bolt pattern and your car is small bolt pattern so you will want to up grade the rear or buy adapters.

This information is found on this thread. http://www.forabodiesonly.com/mopar/showthread.php?t=187973&highlight=Volare

Posted by 72bluNblu: Yep, you can use any of the FMJ stuff too, including the spindles. They have slightly different geometry than the '73 up A body spindles, but not enough for most people to even notice. And the change in geometry actually improves the camber gain while cornering, so you can argue they're actually better than a body spindles. This is pretty nice, because a lot of wrecking yards still have FMJ clunkers in their yards, you can pull the spindles and brakes off of some of those models all the way up to '89.

You can also use the larger 11.75" FMJ rotors if you get the caliper brackets to go along with them, they use the same spindles, control arms, and even calipers as the regular '73 up 10.97" rotors do for an A-body. You do need to have 15" rims though, as 14" rims will hit the calipers.

Here's a list of all the Mopars that use the same 10.98" rotor. You can also pull spindles and calipers off of any of these cars. Some will have pin type calipers, but if you grab everything from the spindle out you'll get the right caliper brackets. Some of them also had the 11.75" rotors from '76 to '81.

Or the upper control arms. Need uppers from a 73-76 A body, ball joint sleeves from Dr Diff to use the current arms or an aftermarket upper arm.

From the spindles out work fine on an A body. Get a 73-76 A body disc lower ball joint and you're set.

Exactly. Spindles, rotors, calipers and caliper brackets can all be swapped over. K-member and control arms can not. New upper control arms or sleeves, and new lower ball joints.

And don't forget the new rims!

As always, I knew you guys would come thru with great info. Thanks! Gives me something to research a little further as I have no idea what K frame we'll have to use. I think I've seen it said that the slant 6 K frame is fine when installing a small block, but will have to do a little reading to be sure.

Thnaks again,
