Walmart is terrible -- or i just have extremely high expectations....

No. That semi trailer was photo evidence of my 2000 tire clean up in the backyard fairy tale

I never brought my trailer to Walmart. I just rolled in the old tires, no trailer, and denied an appointment because they were not bolted to a trailer or vehicle.

Hahaha. This thread has gone so far off rail.

Oh well

My apologies, I misunderstood the posts.
I wanted some BFG T/A's for my Swinger and I didn't want to order from Summit and have someone else mount and balance. I found some at Fleet Farm, cheaper than Summit with shipping, and they did a nice job with the mounting and balancing. Nice thing about it, if I have an issue, the store is close by and the invoice is in the glove compartment.

Fleet Farm is righteous!

I'll bet it's one of the 1st edition 5 cylinder colorado's. Danny heard that's the perfect /6 transplant so he's been studying up on it
All I see is. So your guess sounds right

Fair point, last time it was a mechanic shop for my daily's tires at least. I get pretty picky with tires, like to compare all the brands and read/watch performance tests and reviews, not just walk in and have them say "these are the right size, here ya go". If a small shop can get the exact tires I want I will buy them from there from now on.
That's what I did. And one of my 2 picks was on sale. Ordering them also got me fresh dates (all 4 were the same and made the month before)
My wife's tires age out and are never worn-out.

That's a awesome looking dart

Also I'll add this. I'd be careful buying tires from WalMart. We've hit on this before, but WalMart has tires you cannot get anywhere else. They are made to WalMart's "standards" and are made cheaper in construction to other tires you can get from the manufacturer. Their Goodyear tires, for example are different than any Goodyear tire you can get from a certified Goodyear dealer. Cheaper made, in other words.

Well, after ruining good tires from cutting open sidewalls on iron, finding intake and exhaust valves in the face from the scrap yard, pushing the beads off from turning super tight in 4wd low range with 25k# loaded.....a few times of that you just don't care anymore.

If its new, turns, and holds air, who cares. Singles I can understand the worry. Doubles, triples, and duals, send it.

I did not read all of the responses here so forgive me if I repeat what has already been asked....
Is Wal Mart your only option where you live? I've read that it sometimes occurs....that they move into a region and crowd out the local shops.
I don't care if people think I'm being a snob. I refuse to go to Wal Mart because I hate seeing scummy people wearing stupid clothes.

Same. I can't believe how many trashy folks actually go there. **** that.
The Walmart were I live had to enforce a dress code because to many women were wearing their night gowns there, men and boys wearing their pants below their waist, apparently their parents never taught them how to pull their pants up to the waist. I say give them a ticket for indecent exposure. And people bringing their dogs into the store, I'm not talking about service dogs, I'm talking about the family pet.

my pneumatic tire machine won't do deep dish duals.

walmart.com had the cheapest load range E's, and if i stayed with them they'd mount and dismount for free.
the odd surprise was the local walmart couldn't order from walmart.com, as they didn't have that particular stock on shelf. And local wal-marts and wal-mart.com aren't affiliated...somehow...

walmart.com wouldn't deliver to the local walmart. So i was forced to deliver them to my home.

Then i couldn't book an ;appointment" because they were carry-ins, as the ones on the trailer were so sketchy i didn't dare drag it down the road as is. So i had to load up all 24 tires, in another trailer, and sit at the store all day, waiting as they had 'time' to change them.

So. yea. all kinda wtf.

Never again. But, the white trash booty shorts walking around in the summer heat was kinda broke even. Shame me.

Thanks. I actually did rear your whole story which was partially why I asked if Wal Mart was your only option.

You mean kinda like dually wheels? Those are some of the easiest to mount by hand that there are.

not the only option. but for 12 dismounts and 12 mounts, meh. it was a day sitting on my butt relaxing. mostly.

probably. but i'm getting old. so the experience and rant. i'l take it to the grave.

the most brutal part is breaking the beads, and the deep dish i can't break the other side on that style of machine.
It's ooollddd. honestly i think half of it is missing. i have to flip the rim to bust the other side.

It's not as hard as you think, especially those wheels. I use mineral spirits poured on the sidewalls and then use one of these. They normally break the beads in one or two licks.

hahaha. not this rusty ****.

this is the changer, and i'm missing the stuff on the 'right' side of the machine in the photo.

and the oh-**** guards. watch the fingers boys and girls!!! It doesn't show the bar, but man, you better have things ready and steady. otherwise it's a head whacker. It's scary with 140PSI of air pressure.

rubber lube is your friend.

Those are actually good old machines.

it's been faithful. I wish i had everything else to go with it. Some of the newer rims it's nearly impossible to use on. not to mention scratches, scuffs and marring on those pretty boy aluminum wheelies.

You can get nylon tips for all the tools that touch the wheels. But still, when you get up past 17" you really need a rim clamp.

Excuse me for thinking, but why not call a roadside tire service that deals with over the road truckers?

it's the base of the machine that scratches the face of rims. not the tool that spins. I've laid down rubber with some holes in it to get by.

Yeah, they're just not made for all these ghetto aluminum junk. No offense to ghetto aluminum junk.

I have one of those Coates 10-10 machines.
It can service wheels between 13" diameter and 16". I don't even try to use it on aluminum wheels.

What a slap in the face for the local mom and pop tire shop. Buy tires from Tire Rack and have them mount them? I hope they charge you 3 times the price. Labor rate for tires bought elsewhere should be $150/hour. Next time you want a burger, take some hamburger into McDonalds and see if they will cook it for you. Think about it.
I know the owner of the local Ma & Pa tire shop, and about a month ago when I was shopping for new tires for my Ridgeline, that's exactly what he told me to do: Buy them on Tire Rack.

But here's the kicker: One of my new tires is bad, and even though the local shop is one of Tire Rack's "Preferred Providers" (or whatever the hell they're called), I'm having a helluva time getting Tire Rack to ship a new/replacement tire.

I, for one, will never, ever buy new tires online again.
