Get the gripe out of the way first. Rider went down...hard. His Dad was in the same moto. Dad seen son getting tended to by track staff, stopped to see if he was ok. This was his sons first race back, he had broken his right collar bone. By the time dad stopped staff had his chest protector and jersey off. Was obvious that the left collar bone was busted. Takes off to get the medical staff, covering everyone, including me and my 2 cameras in a cloud of dust. Medical staff was tending to another downed rider. Guy comes back...says something to his son and blasted off a second time....another dust storm. Was talking with the track personal that helped him...they told me that the young guy was not going to go to the ER that night...nor were they going to go to the ER today, that they were going to just make an appointment with the doc that treated the other collar bone. I asked if they were sure...was told that is what Dad told them. Why in the hell dust out 6 people if you are not going to do nothing about the injury right then and there. I overheard the EMT if he wanted to go the ER and he said no...
Was a beautiful night for photography. Cloud cover was pretty consistent, but they were not the clouds were not all grey and dark. Mix of white and grey, so there was very little glare picked up by the camera. I only bought 2 lenses...an 85mm and my 70-200 so I had to move around and get creative. Got a lot of shots from under the riders....looking into the cloud cover. Can't wait to see what they look like edited...going back for the second race of their night series of the year...
